EU Product Registry Requirements

The EU has established several mandatory product registries that manufacturers and importers must use to register products before placing them on the EU market. Key registries include the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) and the SCIP database for substances of concern in articles.

EPREL — Energy Labelling Product Database

EPREL is the EU's mandatory product registration database for energy-related products subject to the Energy Labelling Regulation (EU 2017/1369). Suppliers must register products in EPREL before placing them on the EU market and before displaying the energy label. EPREL covers: household appliances (washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, TVs, etc.); lighting products; tyres; and other energy-related products.

SCIP Database

The SCIP database (Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects/Products) is maintained by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Suppliers of articles containing Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) above 0.1% w/w must submit information to the SCIP database. The obligation applies from January 5, 2021.
