CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission)
US federal agency responsible for protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death associated with consumer products. Enforces CPSIA and other product safety laws.
GTIN (Global Trade Item Number)
GS1 standard for uniquely identifying products. Used in retail barcodes (UPC, EAN), EDI, and supply chain management systems worldwide.
CE Marking
Mandatory conformity marking for products covered by EU harmonisation legislation. Indicates compliance with all applicable EU directives and regulations.
REACH
EU Regulation EC 1907/2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. Requires registration of chemical substances and communication of hazard information.
SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern)
Chemical substance that is carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction, persistent, bioaccumulative, or toxic. Listed on ECHA's Candidate List. Triggers SCIP database notification and consumer information obligations.
GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation)
EU Regulation 2023/988 replacing the General Product Safety Directive. Mandatory safety requirements for all consumer products sold in the EU from December 2024.
