SCIP Database Submission Guide
This guide explains how to submit information to the ECHA SCIP database for articles containing Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) above 0.1% w/w, as required by Article 9(1)(i) of the Waste Framework Directive.
Who Must Submit
Suppliers of articles (manufacturers and importers) that contain SVHCs above 0.1% w/w must submit information to the SCIP database. The obligation applies to articles placed on the EU market from January 5, 2021. Distributors and retailers are not required to submit to SCIP but must pass SCIP information along the supply chain.
Submission Process
SCIP submissions are made via ECHA's IUCLID (International Uniform Chemical Information Database) software. Submissions can be made individually or in bulk. Each submission must include: a unique article identifier (GTIN or other identifier); article name and description; SVHC information (substance name, CAS number, concentration range); and safe use information.
